The vendemmia has started! Last Tuesday we completed the harvest of Dolcetto grapes.

It has certainly been a difficult year climatically but I can say now that the results are so far pleasantly surprising. The first analysis of Dolcetto d'Alba 2014 in much better than expected: the sugar levels indicate that the wine will reach 12.5% alcohol and furthermore the level of acidity and the intensity of colour are both excellent.

However, the harvest is far from finished: we still have to wait to bring in the Barbera, Nebbiolo and finally Nebbiolo di Barolo. We hope to that the weather stays sunny and well ventilated in the coming weeks to be able to finish well what has been a difficult year: we are crossing our fingers and now waiting...

Now I would like to tell you about the most beautiful news that we have just received: the jury of the 'Vini d'Italia 2015' Gambero Rosso guide (Italy's 'bible' to its best wines) has awarded Cascina Fontana Barolo 2010 with its highest accolade, Tre Bicchieri (Three Wine Glasses)!

We are immensely happy to at this unexpeced recognition. It is a designation that honours us and gives recognition and understanding of our efforts. Working as we do with humility and respect for our traditions and our land, is is so immensely gratifying that our efforts are able to be appreciated by the highest panel of experts who on tasting my wine have the capacity to understand the purity of style and the elegance of my Barolo.

I dedicate this award to my family who are always part of everything that I do, to all those who over the past years have believed in me and appreciated my wines, and above all to my grandfather Saverio, for me, the greatest, my 'numero uno'.
